BESPOKE & REMODELLING TERMS & CONDITIONS
BESPOKE
‘Bespoke Jewellery’ is the term applied to any item of Brazen jewellery that is created by us in accordance with a clients specifications, or a Brazen Studio Collections model that is customised to the client’s input. Special terms and conditions apply to such purchases and by placing an order for a Brazen bespoke piece of jewellery, you confirm that you have read and accepted the below Terms and Conditions.*
TIMEFRAME
We like to work with a minimum 8-12 week timeframe for the creation of a bespoke piece. It may take less time, or be longer depending on the complexity of the design, the time taken to finalise the design, or our workshop capacity at any given time. During your initial consultation we will be able to provide a rough timeframe and are happy to discuss any specific deadlines you may have.
A bespoke project will not commence until a deposit has been paid.
Please note that if you pause/delay your project during the process, the original quoted prices may be subject to change due to fluctuations in metal prices and we may also not be able to guarantee your original deadline date.
FINALISING A DESIGN
After your main gemstone has been selected we will then begin creating your hand-drawn concept pages. We generally provide up to 3 design pages before creating a full set of scaled technical drawings of the final chosen design. Further design pages may incur an additional charge.
Once written approval has been received on the design, the client must honour this agreement. We cannot be held accountable should you change your mind on the design after manufacture work has commenced. Any substantial changes to a design at this stage may occur further charges.
The sketch work created is a representation of how the design will be translated into your jewellery item, but please bear in mind that our jewellery is hand-fabricated and some variations from the sketch to the finished item can occur.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
We are unable to accept cancellations on bespoke, customised or personalised orders already in production. Should you wish to cancel before manufacture has commenced, any deposits paid may be non-refundable.
Bespoke items are considered special orders and they are not eligible for returns or exchanges.
REMODELLING
Remodelling is an excellent way of repurposing unworn jewellery, either into a completely new style, or a simple re-make so that it retains the original essence but ensures its longevity.
In order to assess your jewellery for remodelling, we would require your items to be brought into the studio (or sent to us) so we can check any gemstones and diamonds for wear, tear or damage and for their suitability to be removed and re-set. There are certain gemstones such as opals and pearls that aren’t suitable for remodelling due to their delicate nature.
RE-SETTING YOUR STONE(S)
There are risks involved with re-modelling jewellery (of any age). Whilst we take great care when removing stones from their original setting, on occasion stones may break, chip or fracture. Therefore re-modelling is carried out at the customer’s own risk and we cannot take responsibility for damage to stones during these processes. If a stone does break and you would like to replace it we can quote for this and source a suitable replacement for you.
Prior to removing any stones we will always email for written confirmation to allow us to proceed.
Once any diamonds/gemstones have been successfully removed from their original setting we will give the stones a clean, and take measurements ready to proceed with your bespoke design.
RECYCLING METAL
There are strict limitations to what can be done with your metal. We are only able to create a wire or flat sheet from a melt – it is not possible to use your own metal for new castings as this is an intricate process that requires new metal alloys for a clean cast. We could however, for example, use it to create a new shank for a ring.
With any melt there may be some slight imperfections on the surface of the metal in the final finish. This is completely normal and part of having a unique piece of jewellery created using your own metal.
In pieces of jewellery where we are not using your metal, we can apply the scrap value as a deduction to your overall costs. We will test and weigh all metal provided to us. We can also return any scrap metal to you should it be sentimental.
HALLMARKING
All new metal castings require to be hallmarked. In the instance your own metal in used for the manufacture of a new shank / band or wedding ring liner, the Assay office will assess and grade this gold and stamp accordingly. This may include a Part Mark, where there are two metals dowered together.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
If you decide you no longer wish to remodel an item of jewellery within your bespoke design we can return it to you, provided we have not begun the removal of stones or scrapping of metal. It will be returned to you at your own cost. Should you wish to cancel your full project, any deposits paid will be non-refundable.
Remodelled jewellery once completed will not be eligible for a refund.
